On 25 January the IOC President chaired a day-long consultative meeting on the subjects of culture, education, health management and well being in relation to the organisation of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG). The meeting focused on brainstorming the cultural and educational elements which will give these games for young people their unique flavor - with representatives from the worlds of sport, education and the scientific world.

Present at the IOC Headquarters in Lausanne to take part in today’s fruitful discussions were representatives from the National Olympic Committees, International Federations, the World Anti-Doping Agency as well as from the International Committee for Fair Play, the International Olympic Academy, the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education, Olympafrica, the IOC Athletes’ Commission, the IOC Medical Commission, the IOC Culture and Education Commission and a number of sports science and sports medicine institutes.
“The group spent a fascinating day together, discussing and debating how best to develop these areas which will be essential to the success of the Youth Olympic Games," commented Rogge.
