At the recent Executive Committee meeting of the International Korfball Federation (IKF), and following the recommendations of its European Competitions Working Group, it was confirmed that, subject to the contract being signed between the IKF and the host National Organization, the winner of the bid to host the 2010 edition (the 15th edition) of the European Youth Championships is England.

The Exco is particularly pleased that England, the third oldest IKF member (having first become a member under the banner of Great Britain in 1946), has managed to make a bid for one of the IKF’s events as, by the time the Championship is played, it will be almost 15 years since England last hosted an official IKF event. England has hosted the Youth Championship before, the 5th edition in Maidstone in 1978, which was the penultimate championship played outdoors as a 3-zone event with 12 players per team. The championships became an indoor event in 1981.

The championship will be held in Milton Keynes (a town situated about 80 Km from London and just over 30 minutes from Luton Airport which is served by budget airlines from all over Europe) and is being heavily supported by the City Council.
