The Kaohsiung Organizing Committee officially announced some of the content of the World Games Opening Ceremony. The ceremony will highlight four elements: technology, ocean, steel, and light - all of which symbolize the main characteristics of the host city.

According to the art tirector, Chen Yu-chiou, 'the opening ceremony influences the success of an event and reflects the image of the hosts. It is inevitable that we present the best of us to the world.

'We hope to portray our indigenous culture and reflect our desire to be part of the international community,' the art director said.

There will be 4,000 performers participating in the ceremony on 16 July. One of them is New Zealand's singer Hayley Westenra. Click here!

Spectacular 'surround' firework displays will bring the ceremon to a conclusion. Click here!
