On her landmark visit to China, Chen Chu, the President of the Kaohsiung Organizing Committee, met with the Director of the General Administration of Sport and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC), Liu Peng, in Beijing. China's participation in The World Games 2009 was the primary topic of their discussions.

China has participated in The World Games four times already and will send the largest-ever sports delegation to Kaohsiung, TPE, this July. More than 100 Chinese athletes will compete in many of the events featuring on the program there. Another sizeable delegation will attend the games as observers.

"We hope our participation in The World Games 2009 Kaohsiung will deepen the kindred feelings between people across the Straits," Liu said.

The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee's delegation to the 2008 Olympics received a warm welcome from the people in Beijing, said Liu. The hospitality should be reciprocated when the COC's athletes and officials arrive in July. "The Kaohsiung people are set to embrace the athletes with outmost passion," said Mayoress Chen Chu.

Liu, who had been Executive President of the Organizing Committee for 2008 Beijing, also briefed Chen on China's experience in hosting the games last year. Furthermore, Chen met with Beijing Mayor Guo Jinlong and visited Olympic venues. And she is set to meet with Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng today.
