Cali, Colombia presented the member federations of the International World Games Associations during the Annual General Meeting in Dubai its concept of green games with a clear focus on organizing and staging the games embracing principles of ecology and sustainability.  The hosts of The 9th World Games underscore the ideas of presenting green games by choosing the Slogan: “Cali 2013 – Fair play to The Planet.” The 9th World Games 2013 will be held up from 26th of July until 4™h of August 2013.

The delegation from the city in southern Colombia with more than 2.5 million inhabitants was  be headed by Pascal Guerrero, the CEO of the Organizing Committee. José Luis Echeverry, Sports Director of the Cali Organizing Committee, presented the ideas regarding the sports program for the 9Th World Games. For the first time ever The World Games will take place in a South American country.

"The bidding from Cali, a city with vast experience in staging international sport events, shows us that The World Games sports are also of interest in South America", states Achim Gossow, Sport Director of the IWGA. "During our talks so far we could feel the enthusiasm for The World Games also and especially of government representatives."

Traditionally, speed skating, fistball and bowling are among the most popular sports on the continent. The Organizing Committee looks forward to presenting new sports like korfball or ultimate flying disc to a sports enthusiastic public.

The IWGA is aware that The 9th World Games in Colombia will draw special attention. In 2016 the Olympic Games will be staged in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil—and that means in South America for the first time as well.
