The 'World Games Fun Day' seeks to acquaint young and old with the sports of The World Games 2005 Duisburg and offers an opportunity for highly entertaining workouts. Altogether 50 exercises make up the 'Fun Day': playful first encounters with sports ranging – alphabetically – from aerobics to water ski. These exercises were developed by German sports pedagogues (under the lead of Christoph Gehrt-Butry; on behalf of the Duisburg Sports Council and the Organizing Committee for The World Games 2005) for physical education classes at schools in North Rhine-Westphalia. Starting tomorrow, June 1, the 'World Games Fun Day' gets launched at all schools in and around Duisburg. But the fun shouldn't stop there!

The innovative concept has recently been elevated to an 'International Year of Sport and Physical Education' (IYSPE) project. As such, the 'Fun Day' gets promoted already in Canda and Switzerland. More countries are to follow soon!

The 50 exercises can easily be adapted to a variety of programs everywhere: from psychomotor education at a kindergarten to gymnastics classes for senior citizens.

Descriptions and drawings for all 50 exercises comprised in the World Games Fun Day concept are made available by their authors from the 2005 Duisburg website (click here). English translations of the texts are now available!
