The Elective Congress of the Fédération Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS) was held in Rome, Italy, on 7 February. It confirmed Sabatino Aracu (ITA) as President and Valerie Leftwich (AUS) as 1st Vice President

President Aracu obtained 125 votes against the 48 votes of Carlos Orlando Ferreira Pinzón (ESP), the FIRS Vice President. The congress was webcast live for the first time. It was marked by fair-play and the delegates’ willingness to work together so that Roller Sports can become part of the Olympic Games.

The President of the Italian National Olympic Committee Petrucci and IOC member Pescante welcomed the delegates, assuring them of their full support to the Olympic candidature of Roller Sports.

'This Congress is a milestone for FIRS,” President Aracu told the delegates, “and we, as true amateurs, are ready to reach our Olympic target and face the challenges in a professional way. We need the involvement of all of you to make our dream true.'
