This is a New Year's message from the Kaohsiung Organizing Committee, KOC, whose offices will be closed from today through 11 February for the traditional Chinese New Year holidays. The message first appeared on the KOC website, click here! It was titled:
Mouse Racing Before Ox Running
Interestingly enough, yet coincidentally, the Chinese zodiac explains well and exactly what is happening in the preparation of The World Games 2009 Kaohsiung!
With Chinese New Year's Day coming in, here's the special edition to greet everyone a Happy Chinese New Year of Mouse:
Chinese zodiac is the miniature of The World Games. As the 5000-year-old traditional story goes, there are 12 animals in the speed racing competition. Pig running the last place because of its heavy weight, while mouse is the fast-runner champion. The sequence of 12 animals rotation is therefore in the order of their ranking in the speed racing competition.
2007 - The Year of Pig
2008 - The Year of Mouse
2009 - The Year of Ox
With Chinese New Year's Day counting down before the little mouse actually knocks on your door on February 7th when the new moon starts, 2007 Year of Pig has enabled KOC to store a lot of ample body energy and resources that will be transformed into the fast speed energy of mouse.
Small steps, but you bet no one can catch these mouse steps because KOC will be running very fast before 2009. In 2009, KOC is strong like an Ox pulling and showcasing the 30+ sports in the World Games to everyone in the international community.
For everyone's information, KOC office will be closed for the followings dates in 2008:
(yy/mm/dd)
08/02/06 - 08/02/11 ... Chinese New Year's Days
08/02/28 ... Memorial White-Ribbon Day
08/04/04 ... Family Memorial Day
08/10/10 ... National Day
However, the mouse of KOC is still running without rest and all international communication is in normal daily operation via email or free skype call: koc2009.
Everyone in KOC cordially wishes you and your loved ones in the family have a fortunate and healthy Chinese New Year of Mouse!
