Aikido is once more on the Invitational Sports Program of The World Games. The public will get to know the Japanese martial art during 2009 Kaohsiung – even if it is not through combats producing a winner and a loser.

Consistent with Morihei Ueshiba's philosophy of total harmony and peace, the International Aikido Federation refrains from having its martial art events conducted competitively and for medals. Demonstrations of the various techniques involving joint locks and throws are again all one gets to see. There will be no real bouts, only simulations of the highly efficient moves that could put a final resolve to any martial situation.

The spirit of the 'Great Teacher' continues alive today. His grandson, Moriteru Ueshiba, led the World Games aikido demonstrations in Duisburg.
