König-Pilsener-Arena

König-Pilsener-Arena     DanceSport - Standard/Latin/Rock'n'Roll

König-Pilsener-ArenaThere's only one World Games venue in the city of  Oberhausen - but it's a spectacular one: the König-Pilsener-Arena. Named after a popular brand of beer (the other 'king of beers') in a recent venue sponsorship agreement, it is indeed a majestically imposing facility. Completed in 1996, it is one of Europe's largest and latest-generation arenas, multifunctional and adaptable to virtually any indoor event. It is converted into a sports arena for indoor soccer and handball, an ice rink, a concert hall, anything, virtually within hours.

ArenaThe arena's capacity in a traditional sports configuration - requiring sizable fields of play in the center - is close to 10'000. Its suitability as a venue for competitions in dance sport is further enhanced by complete rigging facilites throughout for the installation of sound and lighting equipment. This, combined with dance sport's phenomenal popularity in Germany, will contribute to the world's best dancers in Standard, Latin and - for the very first time in World Games history - Rock'n'Roll being able to compete before huge crowds. Indoor trial, which features on the 2005 Duisburg Invitational Program, will similarly bring out spectators by the thousands to the König-Pilsener-Arena.

Access to and from the König-Pilsener-Arena is fast and easy: 12 'Autobahn' exits plus a separate terminal for all public transport lines are nearby.
